On January 8th, Zijin’s two subsidiaries Bayannaoer Zijin Nonferrous Metal Co. Ltd. and Science Environmental Protection Co., Ltd. were honored the State Scientific and Technological Progress Award and the State Technological Invention Award, respectively.
Bayannaoer Zijin together with BGRIMM Technology Group and other companies completed a project of Key Technology and Equipment for Clean Smelting and Efficient Utilization of Zinc. This technology and equipment has been already applied in several Chinese non-ferrous metals companies, such as Zijin Mining, Jiangxi Copper, Zhongjin Lingnan Nonfemet, and Western Mining. This project represents the direction for zinc smelting and made a significant progress for smelting industry.
Science Environmental Protection (“SEP”), a partly-owned subsidiary of Zijin Mining, is the base for China Heavy Metal Pollution Prevention Engineering Technology Research. SEP cooperated with Central South University completed the project of Key Technology for Waste Acid Recycling in Polymetallics Smelting, achieving for the first time in the world that efficient separation of polymetallics in waste acid. The recovery rates of copper, zinc, bismuth and other metals have improved to over 96%, while the reduction of hazardous waste exceeded 90%. This technology has been applied in more than 10 smelting enterprises in China, and has been listed in Major Environmental Protection Technology Equipment Encouraged to Develop in China.
