  • Project Overview

The Rosebel Gold Mine is one of South America's largest producing gold mines.
The project owns two major mining concessions- a 100% interest in the Rosebel Gold Mine and a 70% participating interest in the Saramacca Gold Mine. It also has nine exploration rights covering an area of around 788 square kilometers. The Rosebel property contains seven deposits and several satellites. The mineralized trend remains open on strike and at depth, with great potential to add further gold resources.
According to the NI 43-101 report prepared by Rosebel Gold Mines N.V. (RGM), SRK Consulting (Canada) Inc. (SRK), and WSP Canada Inc. (WSP), as of the end of 2021 (on a 100% basis), the total mineral resources estimate of the Rosebel Gold Mine Project was 196 million tonnes, with an average grade of 1.11 g/t Au for 6.992 million ounces of gold metal. Among these, four deposits have resources of over 1 million ounces each. Reserves include seven deposits and low-grade ore piles, totaling 3.829 million ounces of gold metal at an average grade of 1.09 g/t Au.

  • Current Capacity
The Rosebel mining area commenced production in 2004, and the Saramacca mining area commenced production in the second half of 2020. The designed processing rate of the Rosebel plant is 12.5 million tonnes per annum (Mtpa) of soft ore or 7.7 Mtpa of hard rock equivalent. By the end of 2021, a total of 5.65 million ounces of gold (about 176 tonnes) had been produced, and the annual average gold output was 314,000 ounces (about 10 tonnes). The mine continues to remain in production after the closing of the transaction. The project is planned to produce approximately 6.1 tonnes of gold from February to December 2023.
  • Construction & Technology Upgrades
The upgrade of the equipment of the processing plant is expected to be completed in the second half of 2023. The Saramacca mining area is accelerating toward production. According to the project's pre-feasibility study report re-compiled by Zijin Mining, technological upgrades will be carried out. The construction scale is planned to be 10Mt/a, and the service life of open-pit mining is ten years. The total investment of the project is estimated to be USD 570 million. The project's average annual production volume of gold is expected to be 10.17 tonnes when it reaches the designated production capacity.
