A Metal That is Reshaping Our Times

At Zijin Mining, we are actively engaged in the fight against climate change. Minerals such as copper play a crucial role in the energy transition.

We are the only mining company in Asia and China whose annual copper production exceeds a million tonnes. We are also one of the top copper five producers and one of the fastest-growing companies worldwide in mined copper.

We are committed to cleaner, more sustainable and responsible copper production. We have three world-class copper mining complexes in the Democratic Republic of Congo, Serbia, and Xizang, China. These bases are undergoing extensive expansion and technological upgrades to boost copper output.

Additionally, we own a number of medium-sized and large copper mines, as well as copper smelters and refineries that process the products of our mines. Zijin brand copper products are registered on the Shanghai Futures Exchange (SHFE) and the London Metal Exchange (LME). Our subsidiary, Zijin Copper Co., Ltd, is an accredited silver refiner with the London Bullion Market Association (LBMA).

Copper is a strategic metal for the energy transition, and the most cost-effective conductor available. It is a metal that is leading the new energy revolution characterized by electrification and intelligent applications.

As one of the first metals utilized by humans, copper has been in use for over 10,000 years. Widely used in power supply, household appliances, construction, transportation, and consumer goods, it is essential for our daily lives.

The global shift towards sustainable, low-carbon development has spawned new opportunities for the copper industry. The ongoing development of electrification and renewable energy continues to increase global copper demand. Electric vehicles (EVs) contain four times more copper than traditional vehicles. Globally, over 70% of copper is used for power transmission.
