On the 73rd International Children’s Day, COMMUS, a subsidiary of Zijin Mining in the Democratic Republic of Congo, made a visit to the Emile Callewaert primary school in Kolwezi and brought with them a donation of school supplies and clothing for the students to help them grow and achieve success in their studies.
The students were happy to receive the much-needed supplies, which included schoolbags, notebooks, T-shirts, and caps. They expressed their joy and gratitude through performances such as singing, dancing and poetry recitals.
The school is located to the south of COMMUS’s mine site, in the Kanina community.
Juliana, the Principal of the school, thanked the copper and cobalt producer for its act of kindness, saying the supplies eased the stationery shortage the school had been experiencing.
