Zijin Mining Upgraded to “A” Sustainability Rating by Hang Seng, Ranking in Top 10% of Hong Kong-Listed Peers
2025/09/08 56

Zijin Mining, a major global metals miner, has been awarded an “A” rating for the first time in the 2025 Hang Seng Corporate Sustainability Index assessment. In the results released on August 28, the company ranked in the top 10% among its Hong Kong-listed industry peers in the overall score, as well as in the specific categories of Environment (“E”) and Governance (“G”). This demonstrates Zijin’s advantages in sustainable development within the sector.

Zijin had previously received an “A-” rating for years in a row and was already a constituent of the Hang Seng Corporate Sustainability Index Series.

Ratings of firms included in the Hang Seng Corporate Sustainability Index, published by index compiler Hang Seng Indexes, are a key benchmark in the Hong Kong market for the sustainability performance of listed companies. These ratings also serve as the main criterion in the selection of constituents for the compiler’s ESG indexes.

To date, Zijin has been included in five major ESG indexes developed by Hang Seng Indexes, including its Mainland and Hong Kong Corporate Sustainability Index, China A Corporate Sustainability Index, China A Corporate Sustainability Benchmark Index, HSI ESG Index, and HSCEI ESG Index.
