Zijin Mining, a major global metals miner, has been honored with the ”2025 China ESG Leader” badge by leading Chinese ESG rating agency SynTao Green Finance. The company was also featured in the agency’s report, “Steady and Sustained Progress: China ESG Leaders Annual Report 2025”, for its outstanding environmental, social, and governance (ESG) performance.
The selection criteria were exceptionally rigorous: Winners required an A- or higher ESG rating, rankings within the top 10% of their industry, and zero major ESG incidents over the past three years. Among 5,377 A-share listed companies assessed, only 138 (2.6%) qualified—collectively representing 19.7% of the A-share market’s total capitalization.
Notably, the recognized ESG leaders averaged a score of 73.99 points, outperforming non-selected firms by a significant 20.05 points. Zijin excelled in the environmental dimension with a 77.28 score—25.59 points above the average of unrecognized companies—validating its leading practices in eco-friendly mining and carbon emission management.
Drawing on SynTao’s STαR ESG data platform, which incorporates extensive data points and a sophisticated assessment system, the China ESG Leaders report was released at the 2025 China Sustainable Investment Forum in June.
