In 2002, Zijin Mining acquired a 51% interest in the Ashele Copper Mine and became the operator of the mine.
The mine upholds the principle of coordinated development among the company, its employees, and society. It contributes to the development of its host region by driving the flow of people, goods and capital through its mining operations. It also takes part in local initiatives in rural revitalization, public welfare, charity and education, and has played an active role in disaster relief, including earthquake, flood, and snowstorm relief efforts.
It has been recognized as a National Industrial Tourism Demonstration Site, a National AAA Tourist Attraction, and a National Green Mine.
