  • Debottlenecking and Expansion

Aurora Gold Mine has a processing capacity of 10,000 tonnes per day, and Phase I of its underground mining project is progressing on schedule. This will support a smooth transition from open-pit to underground mining. Upon reaching full capacity, annual gold output is expected to increase to 6 tonnes.

  • M&A

In 2020, Zijin Mining completed the acquisition of a 100% equity interest in Guyana Goldfields Inc. Beginning in 2025, Zijin Mining has held the mine through Zijin Gold International and now owns an 85% interest.

ESG

The operation supports surrounding communities and small business owners by providing transportation conveniences and routine medical services. It also funds local initiatives on an ongoing basis, including the Guyana Cricket Carnival, reconstruction of disaster-affected schools, assistance for students in need, Indigenous community development and cultural preservation, primary school renovation, legal education programs for the Guyana Police Force, and Christmas charity activities.

In biodiversity conservation, the company has established a monitoring system combining in-house efforts with third-party expertise. Through routine camera-trap monitoring and biennial grid-based surveys conducted jointly with specialized institutions, it tracks wildlife activity patterns and continuously refines its conservation measures. The Aurora mine is rich in biodiversity, with 434 species recorded to date. These include pumas, jaguars, macaws, and other rare flora and fauna.
