Zijin School of Geology and Mining Celebrates Graduation of Class of 2023

On June 7, the Zijin School of Geology and Mining of Fuzhou University held a commencement ceremony for the Class of 2023 and conferred degrees on the graduates. Mr. Chen Jinghe, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the School and Chairman of Zijin Mining, delivered an address at the event, to prepare the young graduates for their new journeys in life.

Words of encouragement and inspiration

In his speech, Chairman Chen highlighted Zijin Mining’s profound connection with Fuzhou University and the company’s special role in the development of the Zijin School of Geology and Mining. He also shared his insights on the enduring appeal and growth potential of the mining industry under the current economic and security situations.

He stressed the need for the graduates to see the big picture and set clear goals. He urged them to broaden their horizons through extensive learning and exchanges and follow national and global developments, as they strive for excellence in their chosen fields.

Chairman Chen Jinghe emphasized that difficulties are opportunities and encouraged the graduates to fear no hardships and embrace challenges. He advised them to explore the potential for career growth in companies. Furthermore, Chairman Chen underscored the significance of remaining grounded and pursuing innovation, and encouraged the graduates to hold their alma mater to heart and keep a close bond with the university.

Professor Zhong Shuiping, Dean of the School, delivered a speech and expressed his warm congratulations to all the graduates for successfully completing their studies.

In his speech, Professor Zhong highlighted Zijin Mining’s extraordinary pace of growth and Chairman Chen Jinghe’s enterprising spirit. Drawing inspiration from the role models, he encouraged the students to be pioneers in the new era and cultivate a lifelong passion for learning.

Moments of joy and pride for the graduates

Representing their fellow graduates, Mr. Chen Yongkang and Ms. Huang Yanna shared their unforgettable and rewarding experiences at Fuzhou University, and expressed their heartfelt gratitude and best wishes to Zijin Mining, the University and the School. They also called on their peers to fearlessly navigate their future paths, strive for excellence and become the pride of the University and the School.

At the event, 12 students were awarded the title of Chen Jinghe Outstanding Graduates.

The event concluded with a degree conferral ceremony. Chairman Chen Jinghe and other guests presented the graduates with certificates, turned their tassels and took photos with them.

The Class of 2023 of the Zijin School of Geology and Mining includes 175 undergraduate students and 75 postgraduate students. Notably, 49% of undergraduate students will pursue further education, a new record for the institute.
