Zijin News - On July 29, Liex, Zijin’s subsidiary in Argentina, unveiled its “One-on-One Student Sponsorship Program” at Instituto de Educación Superior Fiambalá (IESF). Sixteen employees of Liex and its contractors will sponsor the education of 16 outstanding students from local low-income families.

The program’s launch ceremony was attended by the student beneficiaries, their parents, representatives of school principals, and senior executives of Liex and its contractors. Ms. Roxana Paulón, Mayor of Fiambalá, spoke at the event.

She thanked Liex for its support to the development of education in the city and said the children and their parents were touched by the selflessness and love of the donors.

In addition to providing financial support, the sponsors from LIEX also care about the physical and mental well-being of students, and their academic performance. They hope to help the students develop a good attitude toward life, so that they can grow up healthy and strong, and realize their own value on a broad stage.

Liex has carried out a number of effective and impactful community development programs and community activities.

On July 30, Liex held its first monthly open day. The Mayor of Fiambalá and the commander of the Argentine National Gendarmerie in Fiambalá attended the event and presented awards to the three employees that rescued tourists stranded in the snow on the plateau.

Eighteen outstanding Liex employees in Q2 and 5 outstanding employees from Liex’s contractors were also honored at the event. A birthday celebration was also held for employees born in July.

More than 100 people attended the event, including event organizers, families that benefit from the student sponsorship program, representatives from local communities, and employees of Liex and their families. With the singing and dancing, they spent a pleasant and memorable evening together.

Liex is a lithium producer. Its core asset is the Tres Quebradas Lithium Salar located in the well-known Lithium Triangle in South America, which is also one of the largest and highest-grade projects of its kind in the world.

Phase 1 of the project is designed to produce 20,000 tonnes of battery-grade lithium carbonate per annum, with its commissioning scheduled at the end of 2023. The first stage of trial brine extraction and evaporation began in June 2022.
