On November 23, the Aurora Gold Mine in Guyana, operated by global metals miner Zijin Mining, hosted a Chinese medical team for a free clinic, benefiting more than a hundred Chinese and Guyanese employees.
Doctors from the 20th Chinese Medical Team, which was sent by the Chinese government to Guyana for medical assistance, offered a wide range of services across several specialties, including General Internal Medicine, General Surgery, Traditional Chinese Medicine, Acupuncture, and Pain Management. In addition to conducting regular medical examinations and health consultations for workers at the mine, they also ran tests for blood pressure and glucose levels, and shared information on disease prevention.
“The free clinic provided by the Chinese Medical Team brings essential healthcare services to our miners and mine construction staff. In particular, they offered tangible help to local Guyanese employees. Their efforts are truly commendable,” said an employee who benefited from the medical services.
