FZU Zijin Hydrogen Power Technology Co. Ltd. (FZU Zijin), a subsidiary of major global metals miner Zijin Mining, recently delivered 100 fuel cell stacks to Haiddriver, an energy technology company. The delivery marks a significant breakthrough in the commercialization of its ammonia-based hydrogen energy technology.
Technological Innovations
FZU Zijin has developed three core product lines: ammonia-hydrogen emergency power generation systems, industrial ammonia-to-hydrogen production technology, and ammonia-hydrogen power equipment. The company holds 144 intellectual property rights, including 33 invention patents. Its core technologies include ammonia decomposition systems for hydrogen production, ammonia decomposition reactors, ammonia-hydrogen fuel cell systems, hybrid engines, ammonia-fueled internal combustion engine systems, and intelligent coordinated control systems.
Diverse Applications
FZU Zijin’s ammonia-hydrogen technologies have been piloted in carbon-intensive industries such as copper strip processing, float glass production, silicon steel manufacturing, and non-ferrous metals smelting. These applications have achieved energy savings of up to 26.5%, reducing annual electricity costs for clients by more than US 82,000 per set of equipment. The company’s “ammonia-hydrogen” power systems have successfully operated in extreme environments such as the Shuangji Mountain in Longyan and the Phoenix Island in Zhoushan, providing power for 5G base stations, cultural and sports events, riverboats, and electric tour vehicles. Additionally, the company is advancing the application of “ammonia-hydrogen power” technology in hydrogen-powered trucks and nearshore vessels, promoting the development of holistic solutions through practical applications.
Broad Recognition
In 2024, FZU Zijin earned several honors from the government and the industry for its innovative capabilities and technical strength. It was named a Fujian Province Industrial Leading Team, a High-Tech Company, an Innovative SME, and a Fuzhou City Intellectual Property Powerhouse. Notably, the 10KW Ammonia-Hydrogen Power Project in Zhoushan was recognized as an “Outstanding Zero-Carbon Project in China” and won two prestigious “Micro-Innovation” awards.
Dedicated to advancing ammonia-based hydrogen energy technology, FZU Zijin will continually contribute to the building of a low-carbon, safe, and modern energy system for a sustainable future.
