Zijin, a leading global metals miner, has been upgraded to the highest AAA rating in the latest ESG assessment released by China-based CSI Indexes in September, rising from BBB in the previous year’s evaluation. The upgrade positions Zijin among the top performers in CSI’s coverage of nearly 5,000 listed firms.
The 2026 assessment was based on publicly available information, including Zijin’s 2025 Sustainability Report and ESG incidents. Zijin ranked among the top performers across the environmental, social and governance dimensions of the evaluation. The company demonstrated particularly strong performance in key areas including natural resources, environmental opportunities, sustainability-related governance, shareholder rights, and governance practices. The AAA rating reflects strong recognition of Zijin’s sustainability practices and the quality of its ESG disclosures by an authoritative rating agency.
CSI Indexes, jointly established by the Shanghai and Shenzhen stock exchanges, is one of China’s authoritative index and ESG rating providers. Its rating framework covers three pillars — environmental, social and governance — broken down into 31 specific topics under 12 themes, measured by nearly 200 indicators. The assessment system rates companies on a 10-level scale from AAA to D and currently covers nearly 5,000 public companies and more than 2,500 Chinese bond issuers.
