In a display of skill and precision, Serbia Zijin Mining recently hosted its first "Employee Technical Competition," an event that brought together 300 employees to compete in 13 different categories, including machinery maintenance, electrical work, forklift operation, lab testing, and safety.
One standout performance was delivered by Nikola Stanikić during the forklift competition. At the starting line, five nuts were neatly arranged on a white iron frame. With remarkable dexterity, Nikola maneuvered the forklift’s "steel needle" through each nut, then reversed smoothly through an "S" curve formed by red traffic cones without touching any of them. He successfully placed the nuts on a target iron frame, repeating this process until all five nuts were evenly spaced and delivered within 10 minutes.
This impressive display of skill was part of a larger event that saw veterans and newcomers alike showcasing their talents in a unique and exciting "skill show." After intense competition, over 40 employees were awarded the title of "Technical Expert."
Nikola Stanikić, a warehouse keeper in the marketing department, emerged as a standout, winning first place in both the theoretical and practical segments of the forklift competition. His rapid and precise forklift operation and top scores in the theoretical exam earned him well-deserved recognition.
Nikola, a young professional born in the 1990s, graduated from Bor Electromechanical Engineering School and joined Serbia Zijin Mining in May 2023. Due to his diligent work, he was promoted to warehouse keeper by the end of the year. "At Serbia Zijin Mining, there are many opportunities for advancement, which is why I strive to improve my skills every day," said Nikola.
As Serbia Zijin Mining continues to develop the lower zone of its mines, the company's production scale is set to expand, leading to an increased demand for highly skilled workers. The company is actively building platforms to prioritize the recruitment of personnel from Bor and surrounding areas, thereby boosting local employment. In addition, Serbia Zijin Mining has extended collaboration invitations to employment agencies and major educational institutions in Serbia's main cities, organizing several job fairs and jointly developing core training courses in mining and mineral processing.
This event highlighted the technical expertise of Serbia Zijin Mining's employees and underscored the company's commitment to fostering talent and supporting local communities.
