Zijin Mining Ranked among China’s top 100 ESG Pioneers
2023/06/25 9708

On June 13, a ranking of the top 100 ESG pioneers among companies listed in China was jointly released by government agencies and research institutes. Zijin Mining was ranked No.31 on the list.

While most of the companies on the list are large state-owned enterprises and leading manufacturing companies in China, Zijin Mining is the only non-ferrous metals company that made the list.

Researchers selected 855 companies from all Chinese firms listed in Shanghai and Hong Kong as of April 30, 2023, based on four metrics: market capitalization, ESG reporting, influence, and ESG activities. The top 100 performers were then determined following a thorough ESG assessment process.

In recent years, Zijin Mining has been strengthening its performance against key ESG metrics and improving the quality of ESG information disclosure. As a result, the company’s scores in major global ESG rankings have been rising, while it maintains an industry-leading position in mainstream ESG ratings in China.

In 2022, Zijin Mining achieved a score of 54 in the S&P Global Corporate Sustainability Assessment, ranking among the top 12% of the global mining sector - top 17% in governance, top 10% in environmental performance, and top 12% in the social dimension. Zijin Mining also maintains an A- rating in the Hang Seng Corporate Sustainability Index.
