Rosebel Gold Mines N.V. (RGM), a subsidiary of Zijin Mining Group, recently hosted a spectacular Jubilee event on the 9th of December at Roeli's Event Venue, marking a night of celebration, reflection, and recognition for the dedicated individuals who have contributed to the company's success. The evening was filled with live entertainment, an elaborate buffet featuring a diverse array of cuisines, and a grand finale of fireworks that illuminated the night sky.
The highlight of the event was the acknowledgment of 217 jubilees, ranging from 5 to 30 years of service, honoring the commitment and hard work of employees who have been integral to the company's growth. The jubilant atmosphere was a testament to the strong sense of camaraderie and shared accomplishments within the RGM family.
Jo-Anne Bruinendaal, Camp Coordinator at the Camp Management Office, took a moment to express her gratitude during the festivities for her 5-year work anniversary. “I couldn’t have done this without the support of my family. Despite the numerous challenges we’ve had over the years, I can say that I am very proud of achieving this personal milestone within the organization,” she said.
Michiel Raafenberg, Senior Associate from the Legal and Corporate Affairs department, also celebrated his 5-year anniversary with enthusiasm. Reflecting on his time at RGM, Michiel remarked that the dynamic and evolving nature of the company made it feel like he had been part of the team for much longer. “I encourage all colleagues to embrace the exciting developments within the company and would like to advise them to look forward to forthcoming opportunities while striving for excellence in their work.”
One of the first women from the RGM Communities of Interest (COI’s) who started working at the mine site, is Laundry Attendant Cherida van der Kamp. She started working in 1993 and proudly celebrated 30 years of service at RGM. Cherida revealed that the secret to working in the same place for 30 years is "simplicity." "I am simple,” she said. “I carry out orders correctly, and I don't get angry easily. I want to tell my colleagues that if they continue to believe in themselves, everything will be fine. You have to believe in yourself to achieve something in society because 30 years is not easy, but with self-belief, you can and you will achieve it."
