In celebration of the 11th World Wildlife Day on March 3, Urad Rear Banner Zijin, operator of a zinc-lead mine in Inner Mongolia, China, held an advocacy event themed “Connecting People with the Earth: Exploring Digital Innovation in Wildlife Protection”. The initiative aimed to elevate employees’ awareness and commitment towards preserving biodiversity in the mine’s neighboring areas.

The event featured presentations by officials from the Urad Rear Banner Forestry and Grassland Administration and researchers from a local National Nature Reserve, as well as exhibitions. Representatives from the Administration presented a Wildlife Protection Proposal. Researchers from the Urad Rear Banner Management Station of the National Nature Reserve for Urad Saxaul Forest and Mongolian Wild Ass highlighted the importance of wildlife protection, introduced the types of wildlife found in the region, with a special focus on key species, and provided information on applicable laws and regulations. They also shared examples of how rangers from the Management Station, local farmers, and herdsmen protected and saved wildlife in recent years.

The officials and ranger-researchers also displayed exhibition stands and banners, and distributed brochures and souvenirs related to wildlife protection.

The event was more than a learning opportunity. It sparked the enthusiasm of employees for wildlife protection, encouraging everyone to contribute to an environment where humans and nature thrive in harmony.
