2024/12/03 3308

On November 14, Rosebel Gold Mines, a leading gold producer in Suriname operated by Zijin Mining, signed supplemental terms to the 2024 collective labor agreement with the Union after reaching a consensus through negotiations.

Since 2023, Rosebel Gold Mines has seen continued improvements in operational performance, prompting the Union to advocate for higher wages. Guided by the principles of sustainable development, pursuing development for all, and mutual benefit, the company engaged in open and constructive negotiations with the Union and employees. After approximately six months of consultations, a consensus was formed and a supplemental agreement was signed.

Committed to the protection of labor rights, Zijin Mining follows the United Nations’ Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights and adheres to the laws and regulations of host countries. It supports unions in negotiating Collective Bargaining Agreements and Collective Labor Contracts with project operators to safeguard employees’ rights. In 2023, after more than a year of negotiations, Rosebel Gold Mines successfully signed a collective labor agreement with the Union, addressing critical issues for employees such as level of wage increases, leave, and bonus distribution.
