The La Arena Copper-Gold Mine, a project in Peru recently acquired by Zijin Mining, brought together its employees and local contractors in celebrating the Miners’ Day, a traditional observance in the country. The festivities featured a diverse range of cultural and sports activities, including a Thanksgiving Mass, a mini-marathon, and a football tournament.
The mini-marathon saw 42 participants showcase their determination and athletic spirit, with the cheering from spectators creating an electrifying atmosphere.
In the football tournament, teams displayed fierce competition and seamless teamwork on the field. Every attack and defensive play captivated the audience, earning rounds of applause and enthusiastic cheers.
Mining is one of Peru’s pillar industries. In 1989, Peru designated December 5th as the National Miners’ Day. Since then, events have been held every year to honor the dedication and hard work of all individuals contributing to the mining sector.
