On November 24, the Zijinshan Copper-Gold Mine, the first project and a core asset of Zijin Mining, was recognized by Xinhua News Agency for its role as a Carbon Neutrality Demonstration Base. This recognition was part of Xinhua’s “2023-2024 Smart·Zero Carbon” program, which showcases cutting-edge practices in carbon peaking and carbon neutrality from companies worldwide. Among the 50 featured initiatives, Zijinshan stood out as the only mining-related case study, underscoring its pioneering efforts in the industry.
As a Group, Zijin Mining has been lauded for its exceptional performance in advancing decarbonization. At the “2024 Green Innovators Conference” hosted by Southern Weekly, a Chinese newspaper, and the 2024 Fifth CLS Corporate ESG Forum and “Zhiyuan Awards” ceremony—named for the Chinese concept of “aspiration and progress”—Zijin Mining was named an “Annual Carbon Action Company” and received the prestigious “ESG Pioneer Award.”
