On April 25, 2025, Zijinshan Gold-Copper Mine, a flagship project of Zijin Mining, was selected as a case study for occupational health by China’s National Health Commission. The recognition highlights the mine’s innovative practices and sustained efforts in health, safety, and employee well-being.
To identify and promote best practices in occupational health from across China, the selection of the fourth batch of case studies was launched in December 2024. A total of 50 local government cases and 160 corporate cases stood out from the process.
Zijinshan’s inclusion underscores its leadership in integrating health-focused initiatives with mining operations. Key achievements include:
l Safety innovations
The mine has adopted cutting-edge technologies such as unmanned underground LHD (load-haul-dump) systems and electric mining equipment to minimize worker exposure to hazardous environments and improve operational safety.
l Comprehensive health services
Zijinshan operates an integrated health service system—comprising a clinic, counseling rooms, and stress relief zones—to provide employees with medical services, psychological counseling, and crisis intervention.
l Health culture
The mine organizes annual events such as staff sports meets and walking challenges to promote physical activity and foster a culture of health and wellness.
In recent years, Zijinshan has received multiple honors, including National Model Workers’ Employer, National Safety Culture Demonstration Company, Fujian Provincial Canteen of Health and Nutrition, and Longyan Municipal Healthy Company.
