On April 22, Heilongjiang Zijin Copper’s “Flue Gas Treatment System Project” was recognized as an “Outstanding Case” under the Climate Lighthouse Awards at Shanghai Climate Week 2025.
The smelter operator, a subsidiary of major global metals miner Zijin Mining, leveraged intelligent technologies to develop a flue gas treatment system. This effectively cuts flue gas volumes at production sites and minimizes the environmental impact. The project has set a benchmark for green manufacturing and sustainable development in the industry. It serves both as a model of good practice and a compelling validation for Zijin Mining as it works to develop fully automated “lights-out” operations.
Shanghai Climate Week was initiated by more than a hundred partners globally and is supported by the United Nations and the Chinese government. It is one of the most influential climate action and sustainable development events in Asia. Through its “Lighthouse Model Award” and “Outstanding Case Award,” the event aims to foster collaborative innovation across value chains and accelerate the transition to a low-carbon economy.
