Kolwezi, DR Congo, May 24, 2025 – CARRILU, a subsidiary of Zijin Mining that produces cement and lime, marked a milestone in its community initiatives by breaking ground on the Mivuka Primary School and handing over the newly built Mapendo Primary School to local communities. Through infrastructure investment and donations of school supplies, CARRILU is helping to elevate the standard of primary education in its host communities.
At the groundbreaking ceremony for the Mivuka School on May 23, Chief Musonpo emphasized that the school represents more than just bricks and mortar—it offers local children a gateway to knowledge and a bright future.
The next day, the Mapendo Primary School was formally inaugurated. Representatives from CARRILU joined the Administrator of the Mutshatsha District in a ribbon-cutting ceremony, marking the successful completion of this vibrant new facility.
The school features six large, well-lit classrooms equipped with brand-new desks and chairs. The company also provided books, stationery and food to support students’ learning and well-being.
